private sites not showing up in client backlink profile

I have a group of private blogs that point to my client's site, but when I use SpyGlass, ahrefs or any other backlink checker my sites don't show up.

I checked to see if they were penalized, but they don't seem to be. However, how effective are they if they're not showing up as backlinks?

Well, perhaps user agents of known backlink checkers are blocked profesionally, hence they don't show up in the results ?

I don't understand what you mean. The search engines are blocking full access of results to ahrefs.com and SpyGlass?

No. He meant are you using something to block the spiders that backlink checkers use? Something like Spyder Spanker.

Also, not showing up in 3rd party backlink checkers really does not matter. As long as they are indexed in Google, you are fine.

I made sure nothing like those plugins were on my sites, plus doing a "links:website" for my client's site doesn't show my private sites. Pretty much wasted my time or...?

The "links:" check is useless. Google rarely shows many that way.

Like I said though, if the specific URLs where the links are placed are indexed, that is all that matters.

Fair enough. As I mentioned in my other thread to you, do you like a more "see what the other guys' links are and get the same ones" approach? Of course, in addition to getting links they don't have.

When it makes sense to get the same links, sure.
