Article marketing platforms - What works in 2015?

I've been out of the article marketing arena for about 2 years and I need to build some legit backlinks for a new site. Can anyone recommend article marketing platforms that are still viable after the zoo of Google updates?

I'm already experienced with article marketing, with Ezine, Squidoo, Hubpages, Examiner, and quite a few other sites and I know all about quality content and syndication potential, etc.

I'm just looking to find out which sites are still acceptable these days since I've been out of the loop for so long.

Thanks

As far as I know, they all have taken pretty big hits. Squidoo was collapsed into Hubpages. Ezine doesn't generate nearly as much traffic. I haven't had as many conversions with Hubpages as I used to get with Squidoo. Infobarrel is doing well but has taken a hit as well. I don't know anything about Examiner. There are a lot more sites that are nofollow now than there used to be.

Thanks javrsmith. I don't imagine any of them generate much traffic anymore. I can't remember the last time I saw an Ezine article or Squidoo or Hubpages hub come up in a search result.

With my niche though there's very little opportunity for guest blogging. Most coupon bloggers won't even consider linking to us or selling us adspace because they could lose some of their key affiliate relationships.

So the only thing I can think of to build a few quick backlinks is article marketing. I'm going to check out Ezine tomorrow and see what happens.

You should switch from 'article marketing' to 'content marketing'

    How?

Find the top blogs in your niche

Reach out to them through social media

Make sure your social media account has tons of shares of best of breed content. This establishes the fact that you know what you're talking about.

Engage the top bloggers in your niche. Pick their brains.

Pitch them on a guest post idea.

Look at interviews they've done in the past. Ask to be included.

There are so many other ways to use content to get an SEO advantage. The only limit is your creativity and imagination. Of course, always stay white hat.

I had noticed that some of the popular article submission sites are getting shut down or for sale and its popularity from getting targeted traffic is decreasing and the worst people are finding other mediums for their content like blog sites as well as active online community.

Thanks, everybody. I think you guys pretty much answered my question. Sounds like article marketing is pretty much dead. We'll just keep plugging away on FB
