How long to get top rankings?

How long do you think it can take to get top rankings for a quality site and competitive keyword(s)?

Let's say as example a keyword that gets 600 searches a month for a type of product your site sells. If you hired someone to do quality seo what do you think is a fair time frame to reach ranking goal?

Also by quality meaning relevant sites linking to you and we'll done site, etc.

Thanks

Honestly, this is an impossible question to answer without seeing the site, the keywords, and the competition. What one person says is competitive another might term as extremely hard.

It also depends on what kind of risk you can stomach.

Best guess would be anywhere from 1 to 18 months.

Mike is pointing the specific details that will be needed to analyze your website and unfortunately the thread is too broad.

It depend on what kind of field your website is and the flow of competition in the market that will determine the timeline to get rank. In my experience it really took 1 to 18 months and depending on the expertise of the optimizer.

Belong to many factors. But in the case you do the best SEO job then you should expect more than one month or above. Don't make everything top too fast

That's a very broad question. Like the other warrior said it just depends on how high the competition is and your website needs to be optimized correctly. Also, yesterday Google's algorithm changed ensuring mobile friendly sites rank better than non-mobile friendly sites. Make sure your website is mobile friendly!

It takes 3 to 4 months to rank a site..
Crawlers rank a site every three months.
If you are getting lots of backlinks for the particular post, then you can get top ranking...

What on earth are you talking about? Google crawls most active sites several times per month.

Crawlers don't "rank a site". It's something like crawling -> parsing -> indexing -> ranking - and when that's done your site either ranks or it doesn't.

  • If the keyword is considered high competition and the sites ranking for that keyword are good, high PR sites--- it will take more than 3 months.

Disclaimer: This is based from my experience only but then again the timeframe and results may vary based upon the methods you are using and how competitive the keywords really are.

I would suggest if you want the keywords to rank faster, do paid ads instead.

Thank you for the heads up! I have a couple of follow up questions - if you have time, kindly do respond:

      1. Is there a specific number of authority websites I should be investing in when it comes to buying solo ads? Or it doesn't really matter?

      2. If I want to rank in let's say 2 months, how much money I should be investing on solo ads in order to achieve good results?

      3. Is it a good idea to buy solo ads just for promoting a product? Is it okay or regarded as a 'spam ad' by the website owners who are renting out their ad space?

It takes nearly 2 months to get a top page rank but, it all depends on the strategies that we follow. Firstly, We need to analyze what kind of strategy to implement so that it will help to reach people in a simplified way.

  • Hi Sana,

    1. Is there a specific number of authority websites I should be investing in when it comes to buying solo ads? Or it doesn't really matter?

    >> Please take note that solo ads are not related to getting ranked on search engines.

So for your question above, high PR sites are not connected at all when it comes to purchasing solo ads.

Solo ads are paid ads used to increase your list. If you want to get traffic on search engines without doing SEO, you do paid ads campaign like Google Ads for example.

    2. If I want to rank in let's say 2 months, how much money I should be investing on solo ads in order to achieve good results?

    >> I will assume that the 'solo ads' here are meant to be paid ads. The budget varies on the keywords you will be using. But it would help if you will read more about investing in paid ads campaign to understand how paid ads work and how much you will spend on an ad.

    3. Is it a good idea to buy solo ads just for promoting a product? Is it okay or regarded as a 'spam ad' by the website owners who are renting out their ad space?

    >> This part is confusing. I am guessing that you are a bit confused on what paid ads are, what solo ads are, etc.

Like I mentioned, solo ads are different from paid ads that you do to rank on search engines for a given result.

I would suggest you read more about solo ads and paid ads first.

    Regards,
    Mary

This depend on the KWs competition, you can get a website to rank for a low competition KW in less than 2 months OR it can take a year or more for highly competitive KWs. All of this depends on several factors such as the authority of your websites, quality of links, social signals, mobile friendliness etc.

It is quite difficult to predict without having actually seen the site, the keywords and other such things.
Then again, as your site is a product selling site, chances are that the sites of the manufacturers will have preference over a site that is 3rd party. Suppose, you are selling product A (not manufactured by you), then when you type in the keywords the site of the manufacturer, say X, will be shown ahead of your site.
On a wild guess it would take about 1-8 months to be on the first page of SERPs.

If your site is old and have done lots of work in the market then it doesn't need time to get huge ranking in Google. But if you are new to the online industry then it needs some time to get instant ranking in Google. By doing quality SEO work your business can get instant visibility of your targeted audiences with the high quality keywords which you are using as your niche.

If you're starting afresh, anytime between 2 months to a few years depending on various factors like competition, keyword length, word type, etc. The lowest it has taken me for a 3 word keyword with high competition was 3 months.
