Any URL shorteners out there that allow you to break the redirect when necessary?

I'm looking for an URL shortener that allows me to break/disconnect the redirect that is set in place. Any recommendations?

Pretty links for Wordpress. You can edit and change the redirect, or delete it all together.

Its not really a url shortener though, but has all the features of one IMO

I'm looking more for an external shortener service instead of self hosted.

Depends on what you mean by "break/disconnect". Do you want to have another page or some sort of message there? I've been using bitly, and if I remember correctly you can at least delete a link.

I want to spam the short url massively so it would be important that I can delete the link if things go wrong (disconnect the redirect so to say). Most of those URL shorteners don't provide an option for that.

For example when I go to the homepage of bit.ly, enter my domain name, I have a shortened URL, but no option to delete it. Will try to create an account now to see if I get some options to get rid of it.

Just checked, no option, I archived the link as there's no option to delete/remove, but the redirect still works, so if I would spam it hardcore I would be stuck with the links that I blast forever.

This is what bit.ly says on their website:

HOW DO I DELETE A BITLINK?

All Bitlinks are permanent and can never be redirected or deleted.

Kind of ridiculous that such thing can't be broken, and it turns out it's like that with most platforms.

I stand corrected. Sorry for the false claim.

Link redirection isn't really that hard, so perhaps there's a nice PHP script that you could use.

There's a benefit using a massive popular one of course in terms of footprints so using a self hosted domain is not really what I'm looking for, if I wanted that i could just do a redirect on registar or .htaccess level.

I'm a bit surprised why those url shorteners don't offer an option to disable it, but well I'll keep on looking around.

I wanted to have more control over my shorteners too, so I installed my own on a new domain...
