PBN or Private blog network is common in this industry and everybody knows that as well as it is not harmful in terms of SEO. Don't rely on those you said "powerful backlinks" because even you or others can produce this kind of quality links. But it will take great content that is interesting and engaging to your audience, this will be your best medium to reach your users.

I completely disagree. Sorry but Private Blog Networks are not harmful until Google catches you. The positives of a PBN are not worth the penalty that comes if you get caught. So please unless you are willing to lose everything do not use them. They are a big risk.

I don't care about Google and its penalty, what's most important to me is to have a large network of unique and interesting content that will reach my targeted audience and will be benefited as well as shared in their networks.

How will visitors find your "unique and interesting content" if that content isn't listed in Google, Bing, Yahoo, or any other search engine that adopts Google's practices?

When I hear people say they don't care about Google's penalties, I don't think they're fully aware of how widespread Google's reach really is.

I've been building PBN's for over a year now and never had a problem. Google doesn't have an algorithm for detecting PBN's . If a competitors finds your PBN's and rate you out, thats one thing but PBN's are very difficult to detect, even with a manual review if done properly.

Anyway, to hide your PBN's, I suggest you use 'Spyder Spanker' which is a paid plugin but well worth it as it updates the bots all the time or 'link privacy', another plugin which is free but you need to depend on others updating the bots.

Using 'Spyder Spanker' I've never seen any of my PBn's appear in backlink checkers.

Most of the people that has blog sites are in top results but they are not aware in Google's practices. Because they are only focus on their audience not on rankings.

There are still lots of people doesn't really care on how Google works and how powerful the search engine is because they are only creating information that will guide and help the targeted users to be benefited.

Just as a note, don't use Robots.txt only. It creates a strong footprint, and Google can kill you with it (take it from me)!

When you create back link on PBN you have to take care of following things.

    First write informative post.
Give link in last or 2nd last paragraph
    Don't write promotional content
First write 2 to 3 post then 4 post give link to your website

This way it benefit a lot in term of SEO.

To hide your backlink, just ban bots other than search engine using their IP address or using their useragent info ex:

      majesticseo bot useragent:
      UA: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MJ12bot/v1.3.3; Majestic-12 : DSearch : MJ12bot)

you can code .htaccess file to stop such bots. read this:

The first question was answered by Sewarrior.

I can't see how blocking 3rd party spiders would affect your Google visibility.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

      What's your excuse?

Once Google can crawl your site, your rankings wont be affected.

If the PBN is itself providing valuable content, Google will have trouble detecting it.
