Will my site get any benefit if I give DoFollow backlinks to highly reputed site (i.e. Wikipedia, Yahoo, Entrepreneur, BuzzFeed etc) from a relevant article of my blog?

Thanks in advance

Dofollow backlinks is having rel='dofollow' attribute or it is without any rel attribution. That means search engines are allowed to transfer page rank to your site from the site where the link is placed. It’s like a positive vote for you from the this site. If that is nofollow link then it will ignore that link and will continue crawling other content but if that is dofollow link then crawler will land on it.

    Why is this so confusing?

    There's no rel='dofollow'.

I tested potential impact of pointing on-site links to high authority websites and I didn't see neither positive nor negative correlation.

Of course if you compare linking to bad/crappy/spammy website vs no backlinks/authority backlinks, then you may observe negative corellation.

If those external sites are the references for your article having them might make your piece look more trustworthy and linkworthy. It doesn't help your rankings directly, however.

Rel= "dofollow" is actual dofollow but you can't find huge site where you can find actual this types of backlinks. So thats no problem if you can't get huge this types of backlinks just try white hat method for ranking.

I have no idea what you're trying to say. There's no such thing as "rel=dofollow" so of course you're not going to find that anywhere.

WTF does the last sentence mean? "If you can't get backlinks, try to get backlinks"...?
