All of us know that Back Links are heart of SEO and really important to get traffic. I have created many valuable pages with unique and useful information. Viewers read it and find it informative. Still I do not get links.

I am not sure why would anyone link to my article unless the viewers are from technical background (e.g. SEO)

Are other also facing this issue when you are creating content for food, fashion etc.

Is there something I am missing?

If you want other people to share links you need to target people that have a tendency to share links. All traffic isn't equal.

When I first started up years ago I posted content directly on a niche forum, relentlessly, day after day, week after week... That generated a ton of direct targeted traffic because I was participating in sharing free content that traffic wanted, traffic was sharing all over the web.

My content was hosted directly on the largest niche forum & trickled down to all the smaller same niche forums via other forum members, which was picked up by a lot of bloggers in the same niche. I also had an advantage because my target was both hobby & small business owners all in the same niche, all looking for the same content (niche downloads).

Figure out what your traffic wants, create free samples for traffic to easily share around the net. Example, If your niche is food, start sharing similar free recipes to a recipe book you're selling. That's how you lure in traffic, that's how you get traffic to share your content which in turn helps build links.

Think long term & brand everything.

    [edit]
Don't confuse what I posted above with forum spam, it wasn't spam.

I only posted in a single thread, on a single forum.

That same largest niche forum eventually made me a moderator while I was busy posting content (largest niche forum on the net). My point is, I was posting quality content for free & everyone involved knew it.

What about blog post/link exchange? Does it still alive?

Obvious link building If that's the majority of your link profile.

Those links still work, but have self control & make it a small part of your overall links. You don't want 100s of reciprocal links.

Some links will come naturally. But if you want them to come faster, you need to outreach to other websites and propose that they link to you.

I suggest checking out Backlinko blog and RankXL blog for more information on email outreach to build links.

First of all, add social share buttons. Make them accessible.
Regarding the backlinks from websites - that's not so easy.

Try and contact author of related websites and articles, and inform them about your material. Maybe they'll find it useful and link back.

This is the issue with most of the bloggers, even if they write useful content, they do not get number of backlinks. According to me writing facts is not enough you also need engaging content.Engaging content always increases number of social shares and backlinks.
