Hi,

If you do a search for "gainesville employment lawyer" in an incognito tab, you'll see that 352law.com comes up as "Michael Massey" instead of Law Office of Massey & Duffy. Does anyone know how to fix this - if possible?

Thanks you!

That's not what I get. For me, using the Google Chrome browser, it comes up - "Law Office of Massey & Duffy, PLLC"

Because the title someone chose is probably looked upon
as bogus, keyword stuffed, meaningless, lame, spammy,...

Google will change it if it feels it should be.

This can happen where there's links with anchor text that suggests the name of the site can be something other than the home pages title tag. Think it can also occur without the anchor text as well where Google assumes author name = site name because the home page title tag is long.

I use the nick name SEO Dave and use it as my author name which as I've recently increased the title tag of the home page of WordPress SEO Theme Packages (was three words and was added to the end of Google titles, now it's four words and not used as much) means my nick name (SEO Dave) works better (because it's shorter) than the title of the site.

    Do this Google search:

    site:stallion-theme.co.uk

You can see many of the pages have the title "Name of Post - SEO Dave" which is the same format you are seeing on your site. Google doesn't really have much choice, in my example the 4 words home page title is too long to fit at the end of the actual title tags, you have the same issue as your home page title is long as well "Employment | Injury | Accident | Death | Attorneys | Lawyers".

    Two solutions.

    1. Shorten your home page title tag so it works for more articles.
    2. Add what you want at the end of short title tags so there's no space left**

** Google can only fit so many words in the pixel space of the title tag, if you set a short title it will automatically add the title of the site-

My Post Title : Title of Site (if there's space)

Add additional words to short titles, Google can't automatically fill the blank space since there's no blank space. To achieve what you want it would be:

My Post Title : Law Office of Massey & Duffy

    This has SEO implications.

Dave is bang on with that one. This has happened to me a few times with PBN's. It does get sorted over time though, in some cases 6 weeks after I built different site name links to it.

I thought I'd follow up with the fact that SEO-Dave's advise worked perfectly. Those stating I was keyword stuffing were spot on also. The problem has been completely resolved and Google has it right now. Thanks everyone!

So the Google My Business title is Law Office of Massey and Duffy, PLLC

The browser title tag of the website home page itself is Law Office of Massey & Duffy...

You are right that it shows as Michael Massey, and the reason it is displaying like that is because Google thinks it is more relevant than the title on there. This is most likely because of the about page on Google+ where he says, "my name is michael massey..."

The reviews also mention him by name and I'm sure he has personal citations. This is common among law offices, dental and medical practices.

    Code:
    <title>Employment | Injury | Accident | Death | Attorneys | Lawyers</title>
Your Google Cache page title looks like crap and is obvious keyword stuffing.
