SEO in Forums

Hi all,

Just a quick questions. Is SEO working the same on forums? Like keywords in content of 400 words in a post and there is this "tag" function which highlight the keyword.

By the way, If so do we encourage people to
write more in forums?

I am asking this because I want to start a forum for a very niche market. I am ready to invest into manpower for the long run so I was wondering if there is any guide out there?

    Forum is just there to discuss on something, If the forum members found your post is so informatice then your profile will have some value, people will eager to know about you, that time you can share your link with them.

    Forum posting is the best method to create back links. Forums are the outstanding way to increase free traffic towards website. It is easily reached by search engines.

      Seo in forum is a good idea but in forum you will get traffic not valuable backlinks so you need to build backlinks from high page rank sites and traffic from mostly social media.

      Remember that traffic is the only target to fill up your vision on website. So be aware on it.

      Yes this is very true, forum posting is good, By leaving signature on a forum and posting regularly can help gain extra users to your forums. It will help in ranking also if you post on high ranked forums, like this one here warrior forum. If it wasnt useful why would you even come to this forum?

    Forum are best way to drive target traffic, they do have seo value but the main advantage is direct traffic from forum and the traffic are much hot leads than the cold leads generated by ads

    It's only good to get some extra visitors to your website. Most times it won't help you for SEO that much!

    Alright. Guess it ain't going to help much, but it does on traffic. So I guess it is still worth doing it.

    Then what if I were to add a forum into my own site, discussing mainly on "news that is happening while related to my product" and product knowledge and technical stuff. Will those help my site SEO ?

    Well if you're into site rankings, I guess forums won't actually work. I believe it (forums) it effectively works if you want to drive more traffic on your website.

    The forum is being just for discussion.

    Sometimes it ranks well in search engine, but easily loses their ranking with well optimized for, off-page SEO of your competitor.

      Well I actually had a new innovative products that will help on this set of target audience. Which my forum will be very technical things that will be discussed mainly for the benefit and topics interested by this target audience.

      So I am hoping to build the forum just as a hope that in future when my this new innovative product launch it gets the traffic and exposure that I want.

    Actually, I believe that if you know what you're doing, you can gain a lot from having a forum.
    I assume by manpower you mean paid forum posters? As long as they are good at what they do and use the keywords you want them to use in their posts, then your forums should be visible in search results in no time.

      Yeah its a group of people that we hope to get them get the discussion going with right keywords to target audience come in.

    I notice that there is a possibility that you can do SEO in forums. When I try to search for a certain product, I see that some websites that are in page one of Google are forums. It's indeed possible, as long you abide by the rules of a certain forum that you are engaging now, just like this one. Forum threads can act as simple landing pages as well in promoting various products. But again, just give valuable content or information in a forum that you joined now.

    It should not be used in wrong way or to spam a links in discussions. This can ban you from the forum admin. By following the rules and regulation of the forum community you can discuss the topics with other members.

    Somehow half the replies are not on my topic but well there is some very good ones.. Thanks for all the replies.

    So I assume getting a forum for my site is good if I am doing the right thing with the resources I am getting.

    So next question is should I create it under the domain like forum.companyname.com or companyname.com/forum ? any difference? any pros and cons?

    As I just met with a website developer they are telling me, that I need different engines for my site and forums as I required other stuff so they are gonna build it like forum.companyname.com

    And next question is how do I direct traffic to my corporate page from this forum too. Just curious. A healthy way of directing.
