The Solution to Prevent Adsense Spam Clicks

According to Google's Terms & Conditions for Adsense, we(the one who controls the Adsense placement) are prohibited to directly or indirectly click on our own Adsense ads.

But the problem here is the repeated clicking on the ads that we can't control also known as spam clicks. Somebody else is clicking on our Adsense ads and we can't even do a thing about it.

As a result, we may risk getting our accounts banned and all payments owed will not be paid (I've heard quite a few of this already). And Google is not even going to do anything about it even if it isn't your fault.

As you all may know, there isn't a clear cut solution to prevent these spam clicks on our Adsense ads yet, or maybe I've not heard or come across of so far.

So what are your efforts made to prevent these spam clicks? Kindly share with the rest of us.

There is software that will stop someone from clicking multiple times. It goes by IP I think and you can set it to only allow a click from the same IP at whatever intervals you want.

    But....

Don't you think that Google is smart enough to be able to detect this?

I think the real reason these people are getting their accounts banned is for something else (or you are not getting the whole story).

Any idea where to get or download the IP software?

Oh yeah, they probably got their accounts banned for other reasons as well but im pretty sure the adsense spam click thing contributes to getting their accounts banned.

Anyways, Im just trying to play safe here. Wouldn't want to jeopardize my adsense earnings. Prevention is better than cure right

  • In my experience, it's very rare that someone gets banned for fraudulent clicks arbitrarily. Most cases that I hear about are from someone thinking they can get away with it, or they did something like overtly promoting or 'suggesting' people click on their ads.

Google employs many, many very smart people, has evolved very, very sophisticated systems for monitoring, filtering, flagging, etc.

It should be expected that they err on the side of caution since dis-satisfied advertisers are always their greatest concern - but I hear of very few cases of account bans due to 'legitimate' spam clicks.

I think there is always some concern, but for the OP, my belief is that if you 'play by the rules' you probably won't have too much to fear.

Well I wish I could be more helpful - I looked around but couldn't remember the name of the software - I had it on one of my sites several years ago. Perhaps if you do a google search you can find it? Maybe someone else who is not old and senile like me will remember.....

Yeah, something like that might prompt Google to take a closer look at your sites or something and then they see that you are doing something against the TOS and nab you for that.

Guess what, I am a recent victim of this 'Click Fraud' when someone repeated clicked my Ads across my all sites. I reported to G about this but still got banned, which probably is a trigger in the code which fires when such thing happen to a site to prevent the onslaught so it seems logical.

However, I have sent an email stating my issue and I am hopeful to have my account reinstated. Fingers crossed .

But still G needs to find a way to stop this thing as it is very easy for someone to repeated click on your Ads and raise that trigger.

It is as easy as setting up html page on your PC using the adsense code of a publisher and keep clicking the Ads !! No one can stop this to happen.

G will need to find a way to better communicate with publishers before banning their account.

Normally for someone to be banned from adsense requires them doing something really shading.. whether they admit it or not

Spam clicks are a danger as far as I know. Google Adsense TOS will be broken in this case .
For preventing spam clicks you should be aware of your own click and of your relatives. You can also set a IP locator gadget and static counter for number of visitor. If you see an IP is continuously clicking you can report it to Google.
