Hey all,

If i am doing citations for businesses in countries like singapore and malaysia, where there aren't many top quality country unique business listing websites, am I better off just sticking with the top citation websites that offer global listings?

I would do both to be honest. Get them submitted into the biggest sites which offer global rankings, and get them listed into the local listing websites as well. Might even be good to spread that out over some time between each.. Still, the more the merrier if they are good citations!

I would agree with fpforum regarding doing both. For geotargeting i recommend to first exhaust all relevant local listings (unless they are very spammy and are rather harmful) and then proceed with Global listings.

Yeh, there are a handful of worthwhile citations for Malaysia...seems like I am best off sticking to the global quality sites.

There are two things you need to think of when it comes to building citations for local SEO purposes.

1.) Location relevance... any directory that has other listings in it for your area will help. Local specific directories are even better.

2.) Industry relevance... any industry relevant directory will help even if it's low domain authority.

If you're having trouble, you can also create unstructured citations via youtube videos and video directories, also with press releases with NAP.
