hello warriors,
I been reading and learning a lot recently specially in this great forum, right now i have a question which I think gonna be so easy for many of you;
A domain have been registered in 2007 and dropped 2 years ago, and actually, it has so little backlinks, let's assume this backlinks is of no value at all. This domain is brand able, which suite me, because I'm not a fan of linkfarms, redirecting and such stuff.
So I want to register it and build my website on it, in order (I wish) to gain some trust, authority, may be bypass Google sandbox. Considering it's (aged) domain with (aged) few backlinks.
The alternative option is to register (branded) brand new domain and work on it from scratch.
The question is: does the dropped domain have any advantage over a brand new one? Like age, authority, possibility of bypassing Google sandbox?
Let's go further and assume another domain got a nice backlink profile and have been dropped, does it preserve it's value after being dropped?

    Personally in this case I would pick the brandable domain that you like the most and that fits your plan. I would forget about the Google sandbox and not let that be a determining factor, as with proper development that should be short lived anyway.

    A dropped domain that is re-registered probably doesn't have any age benefits. But I do feel that potential links from it's past could give it a few small bonuses. Perhaps some of those links direct some good traffic or could help boost the rankings.

    For a serious project I would try to register a good quality brandable domain name based on its looks and sound before I worried about existing links.

    I hope this helps you a little at least.

      If you are that worried about the sandbox then get a name that already has some age and links to it.

    The domain will still retain some authority if the backlinks are still active. If it's already been dropped the age is now gone, but that doesn't really play a huge role in SEO anyways. If we're talking only a tiny bit of authority then it may be enough to bypass the sandbox, but you might not see any real traffic or ranking results without some work.
