Did any of you had an experience with using WMT - Change of address tool to direct low authority domain to hight authority domain ?

I know this is unusual case, but I'm dealing with situation where client applied Change of address tool to transfer authority of abandoned 2 months old affiliate domain to their flagship 5yrs old high authority domain.

Can this misuse of Change of address tool influence Google rank of main domain ?
