Do you think nofollow links from high authority websites have any benefit?

For example, a bunch of news sites link to you from articles with nofollow links?

Yes, it doesn't matter whether if it is no follow or do follow link what is most important is the user experience that it will give to the targeted audience.

I agree with you but with SEO of points its matter with nofollow and dofollow links.

If the links come from a related site it is good for SEO no matter what. From an objective point of view, SEO is about ranking higher in the serps and the the objective is to bring in more traffic. If the link itself brings in more traffic it's already done its job.

From a less than whitehat point of view, Google would find it unnatural if all of your links were dofollow and that would put you under suspicion and perhaps in queue for a manual review, so if you are into blackhat stuff you need nofollow links as well.

The previous post about percentages of nofollow to dofollow comes from tests that are run by a limited number of people and I personally consider them a not big enough sample to give an objective opinion on the right percentage of do follow to no follow, not to mention the fact different markets, niches and dimentions have proven to be ruled by a somewhat different set of rules for some reason.

Other SEOs of different hat colours have done different tests traking for words with so many different variables that you are hardly going to get a one size fits all answer other than this one:

If the link is from an authority site in a related niche and brings in traffic, it's a good link regardless of its SEO or not factors.

That doesn't make much sense. Normal links between websites are "followed", and nofollow is there mostly to mark user-generated ("non-trusted") links as such.

For example, if you're popular in some blog circles, and don't bother to link to your site from your blog comments, you might get almost 100% "followed" links. Does that realistically sound like something that would get you penalized?

Google is able to go beyond this superficial level, and recognize patterns in the linking sites. If all of your links come from something that looks like an artificial link scheme, you're in trouble.

Yes still matters. A backlink is still a backlink-- even if no follow is believed to be no value for SEO, accompanying it with a good content can drive direct traffic to your website.

Backlinks with no-follow attributes with high DA and PA is good for SEO. Overall percentage should be 80-dofollow 20-no follow...

  It's likely that most readers should disregard this. It's related to building tons of poor quality links, and trying to keep the profile "balanced" or something along those lines. Even then it's just a belief that some people hold.

no follow links from hi authority website is clearly helpful, because search engine will get that as a natural variety of link building, which is good for your website in the eyes of search engine .. =)

A bunch? If you're talking about those links made with automated commenting software, then no. They don't have any benefit at all whether they're follow or nofollow links. At best, they label you as a spammer, and when Google's human quality raters see this (yes, they hunt them down), they manually lower your ranking score.

You have to remember, SEO isn't just about numbers and algorithms. Sometimes people get in the way and "adjust" things.

If you are talking about SEO, there is no value.

I can get nofollow links on tons of high authority-PR-
whatever you want-sites, and do it all day long. So what?

It means nothing SEO-wise. Nothing. Any fool above who
tells you it does, is clueless, a member of the Clueless
SEO Club.

Generating traffic is NOT SEO, no matter how many times people
might babble on about it.

Nofollow links from authoritative sites will not help you in any way in terms of organic rankings/traffic, however, you might get referral traffic from there. They are beneficial in that way.
