Clicks and Impressions
- SEO |
I have read, both on here and on other sites, the difference between the two - but so far I'm still lost.
A previous post says that a 'click' is a click and that an 'impression' is a view, but surely if you click on a page then you view what comes up...? This is the confusion.
My original understanding is that a 'click' is the actual click on the search engine that links the person to the website. Then the 'impression' is if the person clicks onto other pages and links once they arrive on the website....am I right...?
But both are clicks..whether it be a click that takes you from the SE to the website, or a click that takes you from one page within the website to another....? But the two are distinctly different from a marketing perspective because the 'click' relates to SEO and how successfully people can find the website whereas 'impressions' relate to how successful the website is in terms of content, user experience and the action based behind key words searched for....basically meting the needs of the person searching?
CRT is the clicks/impressions x 100 - the impressions are always more than the clicks - does this mean that some of the impressions were caused by people accessing the site by entering the address into the browser? so if the click is 0 and the impression is 5, that's a 0%CTR because the impressions generated are not from people who reached the site via the search engine?
Just clarification that i am on the right lines or completely wrong would be really appreciated.
Many thanks!
Lyndsey.
