My website, cloudopedia.com is up for more than 3 months, but It still ranks in the 15-20 range on google SERP's. Though it is better than before but it still is taking a lot of time.

So, can anyone tell me, how long does it really takes to rank 1st for your own domain name?

Moreover, my website is validated with Google Webmaster and Analytics and I haven't seen any error / notification or any message from Google that says something similar.

Many thanks in advance.

I guess just you need more backlinks to your site. Neither Analytics or Webmaster tools help to that.

I googled your site by name, it's #2, right after cloudpedia.net.

To 'preachers': This is the perfect example of why 'great content is the only thing SEO requires' --> is the greatest B.S. of ALL TIMES spread by 'experts'. Whether people like it or not, SEO takes more than great content.

By the way @ OP, you should focus on building links from relevant and authority sites to your website and social media accounts with 'Cloudopedia' as the anchor text. You will get ranked for your brand name very fast with this.

You can't expect to outrank a direct competitor with the same domain name and a different extension so easy... Right now their Twitter account is #1 for your company name. Not really sure what you would like to achieve

  • Thank you guys for the input. IT was helping. But my website is currently on 18th number when somebody types "Cloudopedia" in Google. I just want to see my website (Cloudopedia - Cloud Computing Definitions) at first position.

By the way guys, cloudypedia and cloudpedia are different websites / domains.

So as from feedback, I just need more backlinks with my domain name as the anchor text.

actually when i search in google for the term 'cloudopedia' i see this forum thread as no. 25 in SERPs, whilst the .com site is much farther back for me.

Btw interesting concept for a site.

When you aren't ranking for your own domain name, it means that your website has a very weak backlink profile.

You need to focus on building some quality backlinks before you will start ranking for your own name and for other more important keywords.

If you never build backlinks, you will not rank for your own name any time soon.

You need to improve your website back link profile. For getting high quality back links consider websites having high DA and PA value. It'll help to improve your website position in SERPs results.
