Hi guys,

I have posted a lot of blogs in the past for my caravan renting business. In Webmastertools I found 1 of the keyword combinations (goedkoop caravan huren) had an average position of 4. I tried to make a SEO optimalised blog post for it (goedkopecaravanhuren.nl/goedkoop-caravan-huren/) but now (after almost a month) I noticed no improvement in my rankings in Webmastertools. Do you guys have any idea on this? As I am not that much of an expert I can't wait to hear you share your knowledge

Thanks,

Rudy

You need more than just content to rank. Linking is very important.

Checked with Majestic. Only 1 good link, and a handful of decent ones - but they're from a single website. That would be an obvious explanation.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

  • To rank a website for certain keywords you should see if that keyword has very few competition or no competition at all. Depending on that, you will plan your SEO strategy.
Write engaging articles and buid social links in order to get noticed, build quality backlinks to increase ranking.

Ranking your content is not only about keyword. Link building is important and to stay at the top. You need quality link building. This is one fact google cannot change because that is where they build their search engine algorithm.

I've posted more than 110 unique articles (3 each week for 10 months) which are related to the business I'm in, so that might not be the problem itself. Maybe partially the problem is that a lot of articles are related to the same subject, confusing Google which page to rank me on.

Social sharing and backlinks I didn't do yet so there is a lot to be gained there.

Thanks again for the input guys.

You may want to search "SEO silos". It doesn't necessarily fit every scenario, but I'd investigate it.

Backlinks yes, but social sharing has almost nothing to do with SEO.

You need to promote your blog by sharing it social media sites like Facebook,Twitter,Google plus as well as apply off page techniques on it like blog bookmarking, blog directory to get its ranking in search engines.

Thanks Nettiapina. I quickly looked up the silos and it appears to be for sites that don't have a clear subject. My website is just about renting caravans. It was a good tip though.

I rephrased the question. Hopefully it is more clear what I am experiencing:
My ranking is quite good for different keywordcombinations. For "Goedkoop caravan huren" it was around place 5 in Google. To raise this position I decided to post a separate blog post just for these words, which is SEO optimalised: goedkopecaravanhuren.nl/goedkoop-caravan-huren This almost has been a month ago. When I look for this keywordcombination in Google I did find my main site (goedkopecaravanhuren.nl). I can't find the blog itself however in the first 10 pages of search results. Anyone an idea on how this is possible? Some people mentioned backlinks. If that was the problem I would rank with my main site on a high position I think (or do I need backlinks per (blog)page)?.

Please enlighten me with your thoughts!
