Does these methods of backlinks works?

I'm thinking about how to get backlinks and some ideas come to mind. At the heart of my strategy will be writing content to get shared. My niche is in the career/job market area and will be pumping out some good advice. So anyways, here's what I'm think go at least get discovered and getting some links out there.

1) Do an AMA or interview a recruiter from a firm, provide a link to their site for a corresponding link. Is this considered a link swap?
-Will this penalize me in some way or be a 0 sum? What if I do nofollow and the link on their site is not nofollow.
2) Post on linkedin and instagram, in the hopes that it gets shared and actually hoping recruiters/firms find the information useful and post on their own sites.
3) Contact career centers and share the useful information to see if they post on their site?

Any other ideas?

These are all pretty weak, but #1 could be okay with some adjustment.

#1 - you're basically talking about reciprocal linking, which might still be beneficial if the page that they are linking from carries greater link equity (directly or indirectly [internally]) then the page that you are linking out from. Still, it's a weak play.

Instead you should do a series of interviews with several recruiters (with significant social influence) and have them all link in and tweet about it. Really, the tweeting is where you are hoping to gain some additional equity in the sense that if your series of interviews or questions/answers is interesting or valuable, then hopefully external sources beyond the interview circle will link into it.

If the interviewers won't voluntarily tweet it, tweet to them with a link to it. Something like
    Code:
7 Experts Give Their Best Tips On {topic}! Featuring @personyouinterviewed http://link.com
This may then force their hands slightly to want to retweet it. Additionally, this may help you collect a few followers in the process. But really, the tweeting is just to get other people who follow whomever was important enough to be interviewed to either retweet it or link to it from their sites.

I would also take to Reddit with it, but I'm not really going to write a manual on how to use Reddit for SEO in this post [it has little to do with a link on Reddit itself.]

#2 - Depends on your following. Go with my modification of #1 if you don't have much going for you. Can't hurt though.

#3 - Completely depends on the content and how well you can sell them this idea. Really, it would be a lot better to find articles out there that are already about your topic, contact the author and have a link added to those pre-existing articles.

Getting someone to create a whole new page for you could be a tough sell.

    1) Write a quality article on a topic that is of interest to your visitors, then submit it to article directories.
    2) Convert the same article to slides and submit to slideshare and similar sites.
    3) Share it on social media

There are many other ways to promote it...but this is good for starters.

Don't do this. This is 2011-era SEO.

Why do you think this is not working anymore? I still see many people doing document sharing and get some good backlinks!

LOL, okay - document sharing MAYBE, but specifically the article directories part of it is pure garbage and was mostly what I was reacting to.

To be fair, I don't see document sharing sites as being that valid either. Sure, you can get some 'good' links from pages with virtually no link equity (besides whatever leaks to them internally) and maybe your could link-push those to help...

But why not spend a few bucks and get some real links?

Maybe that means a PLN (I hate the B in that because it seems like everything has to be a blog then)?
Maybe that means a short content marketing strategy backed by some basic PPC advertising to attract links?
Maybe it means paying $50 an sponsoring an organization so that your site (and a link to it) is featured on their sponsors page which can contain great link equity value (should you use the aged-PR, or other associated third party metrics)?

The fact is there are many better ways to get links then grinding out some worthless document sharing site link. (Which if you link-pushed it might not be worthless, but generally speaking I'm not impressed by them.)

Or is this a case of being so desperate for any link that's not nofollow that someone will waste 30 minutes post some piece of garbage just to avoid the 20 seconds an email to an organization looking for sponsors would take for a much stronger link?

Sorry, I just don't buy into lazy SEO when there are brighter ways to do it in less time and with a greater financial ROI - which is the real key metric here. I've had 20 dollars in Twitter PPC advertising earn me dozens are links from pages with strong third party metrics (since public-PR is a dead metric) that were much stronger some document sharing links.

well maybe not article directories but you can definitely get some traffic by using Slideshare and Youtube.

But I think guest posting would be a good idea. Just contact different websites and offer to write an article about your topic.

You might need to do some networking in your niche. Talk to people who have websites in your niches or niches that somehow related to yours. Once you brake the ice it will be much easier to get a link from them

Maybe, or maybe not. How long does it take for you to write a blog post that someone would post to their site? How much do you count as a street price for such a link, and how much is your time worth?

Most of us are simply not great writers, and it doesn't make sense to guest blog for mere backlinks.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

      What's your excuse?
