Building Outside Network Sites

The main website I am working on right now deals with helping people in their job search. My question is, is it at all worth it for seo purposes to build outside sites that fit in the same niche and link back to my main site?

For example, I bought a domain yesterday that deals with a specific industry's job search. I threw on a wordpress theme and an indeed plugin that I set up to post that industry's jobs for each state.

So I guess my questions are, is it worth it in the first place to set up more sites with other industry job searches, or is postings through indeed even a good way to get any traffic for the main site?

    What's an indeed plugin?

AND yes, it helps to have your own controlled sites to link back to your main one.

Sorry, it's a plugin for wordpress that used Indeed.com's job search results to post. Thank you for your response. I guess the follow up question would be if the posts with the job titles and job descriptions do anything for me SEO-wise when they are posted.

The title and descriptions may help if they are keywords your website is already targeting with other internal links (plus meta data, but not everyone agrees with me on that.)

I'd also choose 1 or 2 keywords your main site wants to rank for and link to it often from the outside/buffer sites. Also link to the main site with naked URLs.
