Question on Backlink

Hi,

I have 2 sites on different webhosts (in different countries). I placed a link on Site A (wordpress blog) on to Site B.

However, when I did a link:Site B on google, the backlink did not show up. Same for yahoo site explorer.

Now, I thought a backlink is any link back to the site from a different IP address.

Is there something that I'm not getting right here?

Appreciate your advice.

    Hi Imaginary,

    Backlinks can take a while to come up. The most reliable source is using the Google Webmaster tool external link checker.

      You cannot expect every link to your site is considered backlink.. it depends on "follow" thinge and the quality of backlink... backlinks from blog reviews can be registered within a couple of hours..

        Hi, both are my own sites on different IPs. That still doesn't qualify?

    Unfortunately most forums are not good sources of backlinks, at least not from Google, because they're 'nofollowed'.

    I had an article published on Ezine on 21st July and the backlink is still not showing. Too early to worry about this?
    It is putting me off writing any more articles yet.

      I posted an article to GoArticles on the same day, the 21st. The backlink just showed up a few hours ago.

      And it's only showing up in Yahoo site explorer right now.
