the host company I used they have 3 servers located at USA , europe and Asia.

my default location is host from asia as I from asia.

I want to target USA audiences and europe .

There is an option from my host stated I can request to host it from USA instead from Asia

so I was thinking does it helps?

  • If you want to target US audience then definitely hosting your server in US Datacenter will boost the loading speed of your website, plus the IP will be from USA so it can be more useful. I can't think of any extraordinary benefits about changing the location apart from these two factors though.

Not much. IP address isn't a very strong signal at least. Nowadays CDN usage is so common that it might be hard to pinpoint the intended target market for any website. But it doesn't hurt if the IP address is from the right country.

Targeting settings in Webmaster Tools, language, and on-page settings are more important in my book.

You can go to Google webmaster tools and tell Google what country you're targeting. It has nothing for continents. But I'm sure it knows Mexico's in the Americas and India in Asia and so on.

ROTFLMAO! Old thread, but man, you people have no clue as to how the internet across the world works!

And that is so funny, it's sad!

No its not necessary to change your server. But yes it helps when you get your hosting from the country where you want to target..

Like for targeting singapore audience we go for .sg then same way if you will get a hosting from the particular location it will help.

But before going for this, I will suggest you to do the following thing..

Login in to to GWT - Google Webmaster Tool and Navigate on International Targeting and there you can select any county where you want to target without spending any single dollar.

    Thanks

Use a host near your target market. Yeah, I think changing host servers might help you increase traffic on your site since host servers also help in speeding up websites.

How would that work? Wouldn't you be better off going to webmaster tools and tell Google what country you're targeting?

I think you should try servers from time-tested companies - pirateshosting.net and yougottohaveithosting.co.za. which are able to meet all your needs with no glitches.
Prices are competitive and servers are well-balanced.

I have no idea why anyone would force US traffic to load a webpage hosted in Asia. The unnecessary lag time doesn't even make sense.

    I host where it's cheapest!

The location of the servers means zilch.

Location of your servers will not help you get targeted visitors from some location. But it can improve your website loading time which is a good thing.

However according to my experience (have used more than one hundred hosts), it's more important to get a good host rather than look at location.

Right location can save you sort of upto 1 sec of loding time (I'm not talking of Australia or some remote regions), but a good host can save you seconds of loading time.
