Link Exchange and How to get quality back links

So I'm trying to find an easy way to get quality back links to my site and have heard link exchanges might have the answer. Has anyone used them, can you recommend one and how did you find it.

    link exchanges are so 2008....they are an obsolute technique that can only increase the risk of getting a penalty from Google.     Link exchanges are highly discouraged by Google and other major search engines so I will strongly recommend you not to take that offer from any website or services provider.

    I think link exchanges is outdated method and not the great way to get quality backlinks. If you need quality backlinks try content marketing, pinterest, slideshare. Try getting backlinks from selected high PR bookmarking sites.

    Even though the thought of using link exchange sites as "obsolete", "outdated" or "so 2008", of which I agree, you can still get quality back links for your site. However, it may not be what you're asking for, which is "an easy way to get quality back links to my site."

    I've mentioned several times that anything worth while takes time and hard work, and that's no different with building "quality back links" for your site. I think if you start by searching Google for "an easy way to get quality back links to my site", you'll find several articles with the information that you're looking for.

    The only reason to exchange a link is if it is relevant and makes sense.

    Example:
    If you have a friend that linked to your site in an article. Then you happen to write an article about their topic, and you link to them because it makes sense. That is the only place. But to trade links is not a good strategy to build lots of links.

    Try making good content and outreaching to people who would find it useful.

    Link Exchange - Usually it works only if you link with related website, still it is unnatural way of linking, but make sure you are not pushing above the limit.

    Quality Linking - Not a one night job to get this, quite difficult to acquire. Few strategies which i like:

    1. Writing controversy article
    2. Freebies - giveaways, logo, landing page design
    3. Spying on competitor link building strategies and emulating the best ones ( personally, i love this one)
    4. Search for your targeted term in google using search tools (past one month) and filter out the best sites (in PA, DA & social presence), see if you can get any link from the same
