I have a tech blog that I am filling with just free good content. I was planning on only using adsense and maybe 1 clickbank banner. So my question to you is how much does your adsense make? And does anyone here ever try the same type of marketing plan?

Well all the blog posts are also posted to Ezines and the keywords are highly researched. The content isn't rehashed crap. But I wanted to make sure I'm not wasting time and money trying to grow my adsense.

I can't do Adsense... I have tried and it frustrates me to no end.

I would recommend signing up to CPA networks and finding out whats available to promote. You can get $5 for email addresses or choose 5c a click.

Just my opinion but I'm sure there are plenty making a load using adsense.. maybe they could give you a better judgment!

A little off topic but Nikki, I think your blog looks pretty good but you should change your name from Admin to Nikki, add the Sociable plugin and limit just a post or two per page. Ohh also add All in on SEO and add keywords to all your posts

Just kinda answered this in another thread. Here it goes again.

Adsense is a numbers game, and an "on page" strategy. You need hella traffic, and ultimately a site that isn't the most interesting read or full of eye candy. The purpose of earning from adsense is to do things that cause readers to click on the ads, and that becomes harder the more time you devote to making your site cool and interesting.

Also, unless you've got the secret to getting a high competition/ high "cost per click" keyword to the top of organic searches, you will be waiting a very long time to see any viable returns.

If you have a knack for writing and don't mind the tedious job of consistently acquiring back links, you can throw up 25 or so sites at lower competition keywords. After a while, we're talking months, you MAY see some OK earnings. If you're bloody lucky with keyword research, using this strategy it's possible to generate a decent income stream.

Money can be made with adsense for sure, but it all depends on four factors.

    1) Doing proper keyword research to estimate traffic and your ability to secure the #1 spot.

    2) Choosing a niche where the average CPC is high. This is absolutely key.

    3) Using a template conducive to a high clickthrough rate.

    4) Implementing your strategy through consistent work - content creation, backlinking, etc.

Not doing any one of these things will lead to failure. Doing all four properly can earn you a great living though.

With regards how much traffic is required to earn decent money through Adsense, it's quite easy to work out the maths......

    Solid CTR - 4%
Average Cost per Click - $1
    Every 1000 visitors (eCPM) = $40

It therefore depends how many 1000's of visitors you are attracting every day/week/month.

*These figures are a rough guide based on limited experience, and every website/blog will be different.

I think your estimation of Cost per clikc is way too high. Most people get something around 0.2$ at best unless you target very specific high paying keywords on your pages.

The problem with adsens is that even though it's pretty easy to set up, it really pays pretty badly. In most cases you can probabaly make 4 times more with CPA or affiliate marketing for the same traffic. But it's more work since you need to do a lot of research to find the right programs.

If you are getting enough traffic and if it is in a a good neche, you can charge out the space for monthly paying ad's to people. There are companies that will take care of all of it for you and you would be able to set how much you want to charge the space for. It depends on the niche and the amount of traffic. If you google companies like ADSter or AdEngage, there are a whole bunch of companies that can help and all you do is put a piece of coding on your site.
