Domain Names/ Labels/ Extensions to Optimze SEO

Hello everyone,

This is my first post

In some ways I'm a newbie but I quit my consulting job over 12 months ago to focus on ecommerce and I've had some results but I'm still learning and I'm speculating a lot of the time as to why something works. I've had just over 500k visitors since Nov 2014. I've attached a screen grab from my analytics. I was hoping you guys could help me with a few queries I have.

I have three quick question for you. I suppose my questions are being asked in order to optimize natural search.

Firstly, I'm setting up a few more ecommerce websites and was wondering what your advice would be regarding Domain Labels/ Extensions. Should I stick to .com or could I use some of the newer extensions such as .club etc.? I'm based in Europe but no one really uses .eu although the country extensions are popular. My primary markets are the Netherlands; the UK; Belgium; France although I have sold to over 45 countries. I think I should stick to .com What's your advice? Oh I should mention that I have the main key word in my domain name that delivered the results above. I want to create a standalone brand for this product. It's a product that have loads of variations like a t-shirt but ultimately it's same product across the entire website.

Secondly, I think you call them exact match domain names, if I had a website golfclubking.com and I'm selling golf clubs, is it an advantage to have the item (in this case golf club) you're specifically selling in your domain name? I.e will it improve organic search or does it matter?

Thirdly, obviously google doesn't like when you replicate content across websites (an assumption I'm making?!). I'm fine with making changes to the copy/listings but I want to reuse my photography on a couple of different websites. If I change the name of the images files can I reuse them? Or will it be categorised as replicated content and will I be penalised from an SEO perspective?

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Leo

If you have something local, then local extension, if worldwide or american, then .com
I haven't tested .eu domains, but I bought them for some brands I have, so how knows... in your case I would stick with .com

Exact match domain is not anymore important as it was. If you have it than good, if not... it's ok! Content and links beats that in every way. I would even say that extension is more important than that (my opinion).

If your target or presence is aiming for the world then I would go with a .com without a shadow of a doubt. You could go with a domain hack IF you find one that fits your brand ideas perfectly.

Thank you both, really appreciate it

What's your thoughts on replicated content. Basically I need to transition off my current domain so for a while I'll be running 2 websites with pretty much the same content, trying to get my new domain up natural search. Could be as long as a couple of months.

I would like to replicate the content especially the images. Will that be an issue? I don't mind changing the copy. If i change the name of the images and the alt text on the images will that help?
