Purchased a new domain and it's banned / Webmaster Tools

Hello everyone,

I have recently purchased a new domain that has been registered couple times in history and then expired. Running a couple SEO tools on the domain before and after the purchase, did not show much, except that it maybe needed some fresh links and content, and so on. The domain name was quite appealing.

When I have added the domain in Webmaster Tools, I was unpleasantly surprised to see that it is banned (manual action). Reason given was: Pure spam (probably worst case scenario of blatant spam). Then I deleted the domain from WMT and now considering purchasing a different domain with no history.

But then, I am concerned, as I am always maintaining a clean image and following G rules with all my sites and I wonder if this domain has an impact on my account and other sites I have.

My questions are:

1) Having this domain listed in WMT/Search Console, even if it was for a short while, could affect my other sites in the same account, and its "reputation" in Google's view?

2) How should I proceed? Like deleting the domain from registrar, would that be enough.

Please advise. Thank you!

    Hi,
As far as I am aware Google takes each individual site on its merits so having a site which they deem to be spam should not have any impact on your other websites so I shouldn`t worry.

Might be worth putting in a reconsideration request on the domain based on a change of ownership. If the original content that warranted the pure spam stamp is long gone.

Hi, I would suggest building up your website. Ensuring that is clean and natural, then I would ask for a reconsideration from Google. This way they can view your site and see that its a good quality site.

    1) It won't have any impact. Just remove it and keep it removed.. Shouldn't be any issues.
    2) Some registrars offer a 'grace delete' period on major extensions. This is usually only for about 2-4 days after you register it. If it's still in that time, contact your registrar and ask if you can grace delete the domain because it has turned out to be spammed on before and banned by Google. You won't get your full registration cost back, but you might get 60-80% of it back. Then, register something new.
