    1. Just because Yoast says so does not mean a page is really optimized well.
    2. Responsive or not, doesn't impact rankings.
    3. Good.
    4. Social bookmarks are useless for rankings. Directory submissions can be good or bad. Depends on the directories.
    5. Not great.
    6. Even worse.
    7. Good.
    8. Not really a ranking factor.
    9. Depending on the size of your town and how many unique visits there were, that traffic volume may not be too bad.
    10. Good. Most people screw that up. Is it well thought out internal linking or just using some plugin that haphazardly throws in internal links?
    11. So where is all that traffic coming from?
    12. A fairly insignificant ranking factor. When you made the switch, did you 301 redirect everything properly though so that you are not losing value from old links?
    13. Good.
    14. Link numbers are pretty meaningless. Quality of links is what matters. That is a lot for a local business, so I'm guessing a lot of them are pretty low quality.
    15. Good.
    16. Are they still indexed? Did they get caught and deindexed?
    17. That was a bad idea. Totally worthless and potentially even harmful.
    18. Not a direct ranking factor.
    19. What exactly are you 301 redirecting? I hope you are not doing a 301 of all 404 pages.
    20. Meta tags other than the title tag really do not play a role in rankings.

You have a ton of wasted links on the homepage. All that stuff listed in your menu is then listed again on the page. That just makes every link weaker. The way you have the Facebook showing at the bottom is just a ton of unneeded links with all the hashtags. Also, I have no idea why you would add a nofollow tag to Facebook. That is only hurting your own Facebook page. All the Twitter links is another waste.

You have more wasted links the way things are showing up under each service area on the homepage. So you have the title "Bathroom", then you have "Bathroom Remodeling Virginia Beach", and then at the end of the paragraph is "Learn More". They all link to the same place. There are 16 services.... That is 48 links, plus the 16 in the nav menu. You have 64 links and really you only need 16. If you are going to insist on having them in the nav bar and the content, then 32 links. Either way, you are wasting a lot of internal linking power.

You have this URL listed as the canonical URL of the homepage which is probably totally screwing with Google... https://www.creativelivingva.com/www...elivingva.com/

Those are just a few things I found at a glance, but they are pretty serious issues.

    Are your keywords VERY competitive?
Since when are you stuck on the third page?
Do you see your rankings being improved everytime GWT indexes your back links?

Are your keywords VERY competitive? They very, I do better with lower searched ones .

Since when are you stuck on the third page? Months!

GWT does not really show dates when it indexes your back links "that know of" if that is what you mean ? GWT shows 823 Links to my site but moz has 1437. But I have slowly link building Via whitespark regularly for a while now.

Sometimes, few members here sound too grumpy instead of helping. All you got to do is to ignore them. Anyways, GWT indexes back links after every 1 week. (That's what I noticed with my site).

Okay so listen, all this stuff you posted doesn't have to do 'so much' with rankings. What matters is back links. Remember that. If your On- Page SEO (keywords in titles, metas, content and images etc) is great than what's stopping your rankings is off -Page SEO; back links.

Let me give you an example of my site. I posted a thread here telling everything and my problem was it wouldn't rank since a month though I was targeting a very easy keyword. I did an experiment. 1 link from blogspot got indexed when I never wrote an article. Guess I posted my link there I didn't remember. Before that link got indexed, I was slowly going to the up but then got stuck on the 2nd page and got stucked there. What I did is I disavowed that blogspot link using GWT. And within 1 week time, I started to see my site going up slowly. That is the problem I feel. See if your keyword is highly competitive YET you're stuck since months so there's an issue or it wouldn't be stuck for months simply. Would have gone up a 'little'. And what majorly affects rankings is 'back links'. You see and figure out using GWT if there are spammy links or few of them that look suspicious. Then simply disavow them.

Even if you create a link through web 2.0 property by creating an article linking to your site, and you don't see rankings go back within 10 days, than trust me it' issue with your back links. Use this strategy and you'll notice your rankings improving. Hope this helps.

I guess you don't like when someone tells you nofollow links don't rank pages.

Now you see what the rest of us have to put up with.

Yeah, noticed your opinion regarding no-follow. Thanks yukon.

I'd get Mike's PayPal and shoot him $100 for that.

Fixing the glaring issues he just mentioned -- all the wasted linking, page speed, and 301 redirecting the http to https --should give you a nice bump.

Get rid of that silly title tag. Do not put the phone number in there. That looks awful and having nothing but keywords looks gimmicky.

You still need to really cut down on your links. Your nav menu alone has about 70 links in it (I got tired of counting. It might be over 100. I don't know.).

Take a look at the text version of your site. It's just a giant scroll of links until you get to any content. And that nav menu is on every page, so it is screwing up the entire site.

I really appreciate the effort Mike, Is this all for user purposes or do you think it will also help my seo ? Being in the business I am in I want calls, period. I want people to find me in search results and call me. All my results show up for there landing pages, and the meta does not have the phone number and the descriptions are short . Most of my competitors have crappy small websites with very little content, back links ect yet they show up before me. Should I have just built 16 websites instead of 1 large on ? Tell me obi-wan ! Thanks Mike

It takes a lot for me to get excited enough to make a comment on a thread anymore mainly because no one listens to great advice. While this thread is 6 months old I couldn't pass this one up.

I have been hired to develop a website in the Va Beach area for a contractor. I want to thank everyone who participated in this conversation especially Mike Friedman for all the wonderful advice.

Moreover, I want to thank the OP for ignoring all the great advice he was given (after 6 mos he still has the phone number in the title, kept all the links on the home page etc...) as this will make my new project much easier to rank.

While we figure our SEO will account for only 10% of our traffic initially, the great advice of all who participated is greatly appreciated and I want you to know it will not go to waste.

        Thanks
        Jim

Beyond the obvious keyword stuffing like a mofo that Yukon mentioned being cleaned up. And what Friedman shared with you about all the other issues.

Removing the text content plagiarized from all of those other web sites from your pages would probably be a big help. Be a hella big job though.

Plus there's an added benefit to possibly getting better rankings. You would be able to take the pride and satisfaction of owning your own content that's unique to you and your own company.

In all likelihood Google will never give you any meaningful rankings for your pages with others sites content on them. And yes, if I can see it, and a plagiarizer checker can see it (I checked) then Google can see it.

You'll need to fix it one way or the other.

Geez, that OP page still has 103 sets of <h3> tags on a single webpage.

It's a safe bet Google is looking at that page & saying "Good luck with that...".

Not sure I would have taken the time to count the <H3> tags after seeing the phone number and keywords (stuffing) in the title but it's an interesting stat.

Glad for the OP there are lots of other traffic methods available besides SEO.

Lol, I didn't count by hand.

Open the HTML source code & do a page search for the keyword </h3> after I seen the text cache was bloated.
