Yes, it is necessary because you have no other best place to put on new content and this part of your website keep running the decorum of sessions and search engine continue crawls new-content as it is his nature.

        The benefits are as below:
        1) Your website get new content (search engine always looking for new fresh contents so possibilities of high-ranking increases).
        2) The possibilities of web-visits increase hence the rate of conversions.
        3) You get new page-links.
        4) It helps in keywords optimization and content enhancement.
        5) It helps in sharing some affiliate products for extra bucks.

thanks for the information but wonder you know what I mean?

you see while you post a new content , usually we will able to put post by " the admin name "
I don't know does it help a bit on SEO since we also can choose to remove this option ..left only date or even remove the date.

Interesting question, Devilfish, though I don't think it contributes to SEO at all.

I think Google already knows that they should disregard it when crawling a page. If everybody used a keyword instead of a name, then wouldn't it be considered spammy?

If I'm a reader, I'd find it fishy. I wouldn't trust the site unless if the piece was written by someone.

Note that this is only an opinion, not a definitive answer. I don't have any means to back up what I posted

Why would it be "necessary"? If you don't want it just delete it. Often business sites don't have any author mentioned in their news articles. Blogs are a bit different, but even then it might be obvious who the writer is.

How? If there's a link it's diluting your other links.

Usually the author archives are the most useless archive on the site, and you should just disable them altogether in most cases. Maybe one in 20 sites benefits from linking to an author profile or something like that.

If it just says "admin" that's useless filler. It's like leaving some "lorem ipsum" filler text on your production site.

If you've only got your own name there that's fine. It's your signature.

Ok, so it's fairly useless, but depends completely on the site name if you should leave it there.
