It is if your trying to build your sites pr to sell links and advertisemens from.

My site gets a hell of a lot of quality traffic but people dont want to pay much for links as it is only a pr 3.

Continue to generate backlinks from high PR sites, and the big G will update when they're ready, about every few months.

Hey Ben,

Umm ... did you know that Google is cracking down on piad linking?

The last update really took some serious PR and indexing from some highly ranked site owners.

I am working on the assumption that it will be at the end of October. The last one was on July 24th and the last PR updates had been between 2.5 to 3 months.

I can't wait for the next update. I am expecting to regain my SE that has been dropped and the PR4 dropped to PR2

I've never had my sites update on time. Mine seemed to be about a 2-4 week gap behind the curve. I'm hoping I have til the end of October to get started through as I just started some new sites.

  Mary is right about Google cracking down on paid linking. I had a site that was PR3 that was taken down to PR0. I had paid links on it.
  
  Here's the info straight from Google:

  "Not all paid links violate our guidelines. Buying and selling links is a normal part of the economy of the web when done for advertising purposes, and not for manipulation of search results. Links purchased for advertising should be designated as such. This can be done in several ways, such as:
  
  Adding a rel="nofollow" attribute to the <a> tag
  Redirecting the links to an intermediate page that is blocked from search engines with a robots.txt file"

  I added the "nofollow" to my links and submitted my site to Google for reconsideration (I think they still call it that) in December of 2007. I just had my site returned to it's normal pagerank this week.

Thats really bad ... your blog have really good information. Things for which we have to spend half an hour on searchg we find them on your blog within few minutes.

I am also looking for PR as I want to sell few links. PR is really good if you want to sell the link otherwise these are not help in bringing traffic or money from them. But I think adsense should pay more to high PR and less to less PR

So how are you meant to build links then.

How would google tell if a link has been paid to be put there or if someone has just linked to it because they found it interesting.

What about all the existing links that i have to my site.

Will i be penalised for them or are you just havin laugh with me.

Ben,

I do not know how Google is able to tell if you are selling links on your site. I do know that they encourage people to inform them about sites with paid links.

My comments were regarding selling paid links on your site not sites that link to yours.

Well past saying that generally they do four times in a year and in July they have updated the PR so most likely we will be able to see PR changes in coming month.

The Google update happens daily, if your looking at the little Green Bar then the indicator is always behind.

What really counts is your rankings and traffic

This PR crack is false and always behind and soon to go away.

Google has been looking at different factors lately and delivered Google Chrome, watch how this is going to impact your ranking factors in the future

how else can they monitor the masses for site activity

the little green bar is obsolete, its proven in the rankings daily just because you have a high rank in the little green bar does not guarantee ranking and traffic

this is what really counts

Hi all..

I just setup a blog for a month. I try to be a resource to others and working to turn it into a monetized blog. However, being new, its difficult to drive traffic into blog and much less talk about getting good page rank.

So, before the next pr update, i would hope that i can get some comments from you guys on how to improve my blog. Before I have to wait for the next next PR update. Just drop me some comments and suggestions.. Pretty pls..
