Quickest way to get a NEW site ranking on Google

I have built many sites and had them ranking for competetive keywords in a very short period of time but it has always been on Yahoo. I have only had success with Google when I used one of the better article directories or used an older site. I always try to have good on site SEO as well as a healthy backlink campaign but it does not seem to matter in terms of ranking on Google. Ideas or suggestions, please ...

I've got in #2 on google for a fairly uncompetitive keyword, with low search volume within about 4 days. I could have easily done it in a day though.

    I'd start with:

on-page seo - keyword in title tags, at least 1 h1, h2 and h3 with keyword with keyword being in the first 100 words on page(s). Keyword in meta keywords tag and meta description.

off-page seo - get some backlinks from this forum if possible, look for some decent dofollow blogs, submit your site to about 10 bookmarking sites. Write a couple of articles and submit to ezine articles with your link in the sig, and ping the site using pingomatic.

That's about it. Of course, that's just for starters but that will definitely get your site indexed and ranking in no time.

If you have lots of sites, it'll also help if you link them all to your new site.

writing a squidoo lens linking to your site will get it up there too.

Thanks for all the suggestions, they are all good. As far as Squidoo and other linking strategies, I have been doing this but it did not seem to make a difference as far as the big "G" is concerned. Yahoo has been a different story as the new sites have quickly shot up the rankings.

I personally have not tried this method yet but
have read about how some marketers are getting traffic
and rankings quickly by simply creating a wordpress blog
and making posts using the keywords they are wanting
to get rankings in google for on their blog in their posts tittle
and then getting lots of external links back to there blog.

Anyone else heard of this tactic?

That sounds interesting and plausible. Anyone else?

For starters, submit a sitemap through google webmaster tools. This is the surest way to get Google to recognize your site, and you'll quickly see if google's not indexing you for a specific reason (i.e. an error when crawling).

In addition to that, I'd submit your site to a handful of social bookmarking sites - i.e. Digg, Reddit, Propeller, Stumbleupon, Mixx, Simpy, etc. This always does the trick for me.

May be a dumb Q, but what do you mean by "submit" my site to these bookmarking sites... will I be posting a digg article about my site? Or is there some way to actually submit it, like submitting a sitemap to webmaster tools?

      Thanks...

I don't have anything to offer, but have a great day anyway!

  • Select a good keyword and make a website. 5-10 pages. All keywords for all pages should be closely related. Like in an Adwords ad group.
Interlink all pages. Homepage to the subpages and subpages to the homepage.(anchored links) Of course also the usual H1 and H2 Tags and Meta Tags. Keep the meta tags keywords closely related.

Make lots of backlinks. Articles, blog comments, RSS, bookmarking etc.

Submit your site and sitemap to your webmastertool account. Don´t do this until you have build up a significant number of backlinks.

About 2 weeks later you should be on the first page. That relies for the main part on your choice of keywords.

I have heard differing points of view on this. Is this generally recommended by most?

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Do your onpage optimisation as suggested above then bookmark your site - use one the many mass bookmarking tools to spead up the process, bookmark all your pages. make sure you use folkd.com, that site has helped me get rank very quickly.

put your Rss feeds to all the rss feed directories, there are a lot - I can provide a short list if needed.

Ping everything, your RSS feeds in the rss feed directories your site social bookmarking pages that have your link on them.

build a couple of link wheels around your keywords. 6-8 spoke link wheels seem best for me.

I personally do not link all my different properties back to my main money page, I link back to my main money page once from the center of each wheel.

Doing that you should get good rank in google reasonably quickly. It does of course depend what keywords you are going after.

This forum is filled with stories like this.
It happens to the best of us, perhaps.
You need to think outside the google-box and
maybe do something else. You did not say why you
wanted to re-up with google. If things are going good,
I would not sweat it. If you just need a little more $$
coming in, there are other things. Sell yourself first, and
      don't sell yourself short.
