Hello

When doing keywords for URLS for local SEO, is it better to put the city first or second, ie

plumber seattle
or
seattle plumber

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

and.......should I put in a hyphen, ie

plumber-seattle(.domain.com)
plumberseattle(.domain.com)
seattle-plumber(.domain.com)
seattle-plumber(.domain.com)

It is by far a better idea to mix your domain with a keyword and something personal.

    For example joeplumber.com or 247plumber.com

The next step is to ad the keywords to your meta title:

Best Plumber - Plumbers in Seattle | Joe The Plumber

The second step is to have it in your meta description?

Looking for a Plumber in Seattle? | Have a leaky pipe or burst geyser? Dont worry, Joe the plumber is on stand by 24 hours a day.

The third step is to have a nice heading with the keyword

    Reliable Plumber in Seattle

After that you need to use a mixture of the word plumber in your page content. For example plumbers, plumber, plumbing ect and you should also mention the name Seattle a few times in your page content.

To conclude you should have your main word plumber in the domain as wel as the rest of your page such as title, heading, content, img alt tags.

The location name should be in the meta data as well as in the content of your page.

      Thanks dewalds86

My project is along the lines of this multisite setup by street-directory.com.au where they are doing suburb targetting for businesses - I am trying to reverse engineer their website as they are holding Google page 1 rankings for a lot of local businesses.

Just trying to work out their naming protocols as they aren't consistent with each multisite (maybe they setup on all permutations).

This company charges $30/month per multisite as they guarantee page 1 results for suburb keywords.

I am also trying to work out why they have such high rankings in Google because their website is just maps linking off to their multisites - no quality content etc

My project is nowhere near the scope of what this company does and I am opting for multisite setup as you don't have the continuing costs for domain renewal and hosting and seems more like a long term model than setting up individual personal domains which can stack up in cost for the client and become prohibitive for them to renew to keep the website and backlink.

So, that's my train of thinking............
