In the context of search engine optimization keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase.

Keyword density apply with the ratio of your suggested keywords in light of the total number of index-able words in web page. For instance, you have 100 words article, then having a 1% keyword ratio means that you should have the presence of your keyword one time within that 100 word text.

all the answers define what your looking for but in most cases really no longer relevant

Google ranks pages with just images and no text or even pages without the keyword your searching for

it all depends what niche your trying to rank in

look at the serps and investigate what Google ranks and finds relevant

you can no longer just use keyword density as a means for ranking today with all the updates

    Hi there!

Keyword density is a term use for the total number of times that your keyword phrase appears in the content or page.

To be more effective you can use the keyword a couple of times but not too much. Because it can make the content none sense or it will never help also if too much.

    Thanks

t is a very important factor to increase your webpage ranking. Keyword density is the percentage density of a particular phrase or keyword available on a website compared to the total number of words on the particular page.

keyword density is number of times a particular keyword is used at per hundred words in the whole content and it should be in the range of 2-3% of whole content.

It's the time the keyword appears in an article - calculated by percentage of that keyword compared to the total number of words in the article. Really, I don't think keyword density really matters now with SEO. If you were doing SEO for like 5 years ago it would matter but now...

I would recommend that 3% keyword density on 500 words content is good.

Why should it be 2-3%? I'm asking because I have articles in the top spots in Google with keyword density of 0.27%, 0.41% and such low numbers.

      Black Hat?

You've got to be kidding me.

When you I wrote my first high school essay I had keyword density. The subject was patriotism and the word 'patriotism' appeared like 3 times in my 300 word essay... That's a keyword density of 1%. Only, in high school, I didn't call it keyword density.

Changing the keyword density is another thing... But not a smart or useful thing to do...

Keyword density deals with the ratio of your keywords in light of the total number of indexable words placed in your webpage. There is no single optimal or universal keyword density percentage Some keywords like "credit cards" naturally appear as a two word phrase, whereas other terms may be more spread out.

@davidwalker02 OP I don't really monitor keyword density in the articles or title tag as it doesn't really seem to matter.

Keyword density is no long plays an important role. In today's era, you just need to write unique content which is relevant to your keyword and just don't stuff your keyword and try to use them naturally.

Keyword density is not a factor you need to worry about these days, in fact it can lead to over-optimization.

You should focus towards keyword relevance. By making sure your website is very relevant to your keyword - not by placing many instances of the keyword into it, but using similar keywords, related language, etc.

Maintain keyword density ratio 4% in your content.according to:
    Keyword Density = (number of keywords)x(the number of occurrences)/(total words) x 100

According to the question my answer in a single sentence is "Keyword density is nothing without excess use of keyword in a particular content"

Now google allows 3-5% keywords according to the content size.
