    This is a great example of the type of linking to stay away from. If any site or network of sites is advertising that they accept guest posts, stay far, far away.

      I've seen superbly awesome SEOs who can rank any site really well recommend guest posting. But it depends on the site you are posting on.

        I did not say that guest blogging does not work or cannot rank pages. I said I would stay away from anything you find in a list like this. A site or network of sites advertising that they accept guest posts, especially for payment, is a likely target to get slapped.

        The specific example that the OP posted is a bad idea. If you are doing guest posting by actually developing relationships with people, that is totally different.

      Mike is correct. Matt Cut's said before he left that; guest blogging for the purpose of back linking will be treated as any other form of paid linking.

      Go look it up.

        So yes, guest blogging is STILL useful in CERTAIN cases depending on WHO is writing the post and what SITE you are posting the content on. But yea, in terms of backlinking....you should be very cautious. Just aim for high quality content and reach out to people who can promote your content, if any.
