Questions about Local SEO Services

Hello Warriors!

I've been long time lurker, but now I have a serious question about offering SEO services locally.

I'm thinking about offering companies getting certain keywords to #1 position in Google.

The questions that concern me:
1) In how long time should I offer to get the keyword to #1 position?
2) Should I ask a one time fee, or monthly fee?
3) Should I ask 50% now and 50% after I get to #1 position?
4) What if I don't get to #1, but only to like 2-5th postion?
5) What kind of reports should I provide the companies? All the backlinks that I've done, or just proof of what certain keyword positions are and were?
6) Are there any techniques you don't reccomend using to get to #1 spot? Maybe companies wouldn't like blackhat techniques?
7) Which payment methods do you accept? Do you haave a company with a bank account? Any other methods? What if I offer this service Internationally? Which methods of payment should I accept?

Please tell me how do you do it and share your stories.

    Hi Martin -

    1. That depends on the keywords. How fast do you think you can get them ranked? It will vary based on competition.
    2. Monthly, as long as you are actively working on getting them there, then a separate fee for maintanace - just making sure they stay up
    3. No - you never know exactly how long it will take you, monthly payments
    4. You can go with page 1 rankings instead of #1. For local businesses they would still get leads from >1 rankings as long as it's page one
    5. I'd advise you to only provide a ranking/traffic reports. You could also include social reports if you can get them, and if your contract includes social media
    6. No automated tools, at least for tier1. You can't risk having your clients' sites penalized.
    7. Set up a company, be professional. Sign 6 month - 1 year contracts. You can accept payment via a wire or something like quickbooks with invoicing.
