Viral sites operate more on shares than SEO. Something going "viral" means people are sharing it and writing about it because it's super-cool content, not that lots of people are finding it via organic search queries.

I'd focus more on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc. and less on organic search. You're going to have to write some crazy good content to get the metrics needed to rank for well known phrases, such as a celebrity's name.

Edit: With enough shares and exposure over time, you should naturally develop a link profile strong enough to start ranking in search results (like Buzzfeed has), but that's going to have to be built in top of a very strong platform of social sharing.

I agree with RS3RS... If your site is "viral" then you need to focus on getting it going through social media more than SEO. You should still get lots of content and pages on your site.. Your titles should still be good for SEO, but I wouldn't focus on buying links and such right now. Instead, I'd be buying Status Updates on other larger Facebook pages to promote your links. You can buy those on Fiverr and forums like BHW & DP. I'd also look into buying Twitter tweets/retweets/followers, plus looking into other social media promotional techniques. YouTube, Pinterest, Tumblr, and StumbleUpon are a few other areas you could work in to promote viral sites.
