Hey Guys,

I was wondering if one of you could maybe help me...

What is the best practice for nofollow links when it comes to seo, should I nofollow all external links I add to my site or leave them as dofollow...

I am a little confused to say the least! haha

As always, any and all input is greatly appreciated!
MartieDread.

I suggest you to not nofollow all of your external links. For example if you link a high authority site on your niche than make do follow the links. It will help you to flow the link juice of your site.

You can't use nofollow to channel link juice to the links you feel that are more important because those nofollow links still count in the totals. If the link is something you put there yourself just leave it "followed".

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

nofollow is telling the search engines you do not endorse or necessarily trust a site you are linking to. It is also used for paid links like banner ads. There is no reason to nofollow most links.

That is totally wrong. They crawl nofollow links.

Thank-You for all the replies guys!

Just wondering, say for example I had a list of 50 WordPress themes and I linked to all of them in the post (they are all high authority sites), would I leave them as follow or change to nofollow?

    Thanks again guys!

      Why would you nofollow that?

There is no benefit to you by adding nofollow to those links.

I think it was already mentioned but if you trust those 50 sites and you know they are not "questionable" by nature, there is no harm in leaving the link "dofollow".

I use redirects (pretty link plugin) for just about every outbound link and I set them to "nofollow" out of habbit I guess but at the end of the day, I wouldn't hesitate to leave them dofollow... especially if I strongly believe in the sites.

      Hope the helps,
