How are people able to sell keyworded traffic from Google

While looking for a programmer I accidentally stumbled upon a few gigs on fiverr where a number of sellers were selling traffic from google. You provide keywords and start receiving traffic from Google with 100s or 1000s of people coming in via those keywords.

I am just curious how that is done. To me it looks like a scam, though they do claim it is 100% legit. Any thoughts?

It could be redirected traffic from expired domains.

Or they will send fake bot traffic to your site. First they will "wash" the traffic so it looks like the traffic is coming from Google. You'll get thousands of visitors per day but zero conversions.

You want to avoid that type of traffic.

Most of the times they are using bots.
There is no profit from this traffic and if Google caught you nothing good will happens.

I would also not recommend you to use this kind of traffic.

Either by bot, or by hiring some really inexpensive workers to click on Google search results. This is a manipulation method that seemed to work to an extend in the past. The idea is to click on a certain search result to make it look more popular than the other ones.

I'm pretty sure that Google is able to detect something like this. Also, it's not even certain that Google uses the clicks from their search as a direct ranking signal. In my opinion it would make sense. If they do, this kind of manipulation could be somewhat effective when there's relatively low competition.
