Do I optimise all pages or just my home page?

Hi,
I am about to embark on a new project that will provide services such as window cleaning, chimney cleaning etc. and am looking for advice on what is the best to optomise a new site. Do I concentrate on optomising the home page or do I optomise some of the pages seperately? For example I will have a home page obviously and several others such as a window cleaning page and a chimney cleaning page.
My question is should I treat each page on its own and optomise each one for keywords, links etc?
Cheers John

Yes, you need to optimize each and every single page of the website, in order to rank all pages for specific keywords. Initially you can start with home page.

An alternative to gain time and energy (even if, as everything, it has pros and cons) is to build a single page site like the one linked in my signature... Well, nevertheless, I'll certainly separate the blog part (the blog section you can see in my site below is not a good idea)...

  • You should optimize all pages. It only depends on you that whether you want those pages to appear on search engines or not. For example, a blog will like to show all of its pages on SERPs but a niche website or a company site will like to emphasize on Homepage. So it's your choice, obviously your about us page does not has anything special to show on Google.

Focus on your home page first, use exact key words in your H1 and 2 tags for you titles on your home page. Your page can show up in google results using a H2 title, even if its the 2nd or 3rd one down on your home page.

You need to optimize all page. Not only will it help you in getting more traffic but will appear natural to Google especially when building links.

    Learn SEO Silos.

Even If you don't care about silos, learn the process of deep linking relevant internal pages.

A well structured site can piggyback off fewer strong external backlinks while ranking multiple internal pages. More bang for your buck.

  • Of course you need to optimize every page on your website because.... well why wouldn't you? You do want those pages to rank eventually right? Well if there not optimized then the chances that page will rank is lower then if the page was properly optimized!

    Thanks

I would start of with just working on the framework/backbone of your site, the home page. Once that has been laid out and set up, I would then start optimizing your other pages. Having as much traffic to your keywords/pages will be more beneficial and profitable in the long run then just trying to rank only your homepage.

Hi folks, thank you very much for the advise that I have received here on warrior it has been very helpful and I know now that I should optimise each page.

Can I ask you experts a few more questions if you don't mind?

-I haven't started my website yet but I am about to give the contract to a company who tells me they are going to do it in CMS Wordpress. Is this OK for a good website format and one that I can optimise properly?
-I live in Ireland which has a small population of approx 4.5m people and I don't know what keywords to go for. Can any of you tell me how difficult it is to optimise a page for a keyword such as "window cleaner" in Ireland might be?

Again thanks for your help and any advise you can give me for a new website I will appreciate it.
      Cheers

        1) Wordpress is easy to use but not knowing HTML/PHP will make SEO unnecessarily complicated.

        2) Niche it down to specific local towns/cities. I doubt you're driving 32,595 square miles all over Ireland to clean windows.
