Multiple Internal Links to the Same Content

Hi All,

Browsing over the Google Webmaster Tools blog, I noticed they posted the following advice:

One URL, one set of content.
In an ideal world, there's a one-to-one pairing between URL and content: each URL leads to a unique piece of content, and each piece of content can only be accessed via one URL. The closer you can get to this ideal, the more streamlined your site will be for crawling and indexing. If your CMS or current site setup makes this difficult, you can use the rel=canonical element to indicate the preferred URL for a particular piece of content.
I know this doesn't directly address the issue of "Duplicate Content" but it does show that Google has thoughts on multiple links to the same pages within your website (from within your website - internal links).

I hope this info is of use to someone

    Hi,

I think it's really trying to say don't have the same content accessable via two (or more) urls. It doesn't say anything about links.

dont duplicate content is the point. you can have as many links pointing to a page as you like but you should only have that content on one page.

having many links to the same page is good,

BUT, having different URLS to the same page can confuse google a bit.

Many links to the same content is always good. Many links for the same content is the almost worst thing you can do. First thing is natural, when you write your blogpost you refer to old topic you wrote before.

      Hi Warriors,

It's a canonicalization issue, nothing to do with multiple links or duplicate content.

In short, they are saying it's best to always use the same URL structure to link to the same page.

      Code:
      http://example.com
      http://example.com/
      http://www.example.com
      http://www.example.com/
      http://www.example.com/index.html
These five different URLs may all lead to the same page, it's best to use one format and stick with it.
