The future of SEO will depend on how the users will evolve in time such as their needs and expectations for the website's product and services as well as the benefits it will give to the target audience.

Yes, the answer suits pretty much.
No one knows the future of SEO, even Google?

If Google dies then many will move to app stores for sure, but that cannot be done. Google doesn't allow any internet killers to kill it.

The future of SEO is heading toward evaluating Search Engine Results instead of applying general practices

If you study the SERPs just about every niche is unique in what is happening and who is ranking

I know what will happen. SEO will die. Internet will die. Earth will die. I just don't know when. I think SEO will be dead Thursday, November 5th, 2015, the internet will die in the last week of May 2087, and Earth will be so stricken with grief at the loss of internet, it will plunge a big dagger through its heart 4 days later.

As long as search exists as we know it, SEO will exist.

SEO is slowly becoming something besides "gaming the system".

Google is getting much better at providing the best result for a search query. The future of SEO, therefor, is becoming the best result for a given query.

Make your content THE best result out there. Then edit it and make it better.

How can you know facts about future? If you're not talking about trivialities or something that's going to happen no matter what.

Bloomberg recently ran an article about Google's AI project RankBrain. It's already powering the search according to that piece. Search Engine Land also covers the same news. That sounds like something that can really change the playing field.

That's a good offer. I can only give about €3.50.

      Longer then that.

People with childhood hobbies usually end up having them throughout life. People don't change, Google won't change, and SEO won't be dead until the generation of people online right now are. There's been an entire generation of people born into it.

The single worst thing Google could do is drastically alter their algorithm. At this point in time, there's no way it would be better for them and it would certainly wreck the billions upon billions of dollars of business's that rely on it or have invested heavily into it.

Will there be improvements? Sure, but there's never going to be massive sweeping changes, at least not while Google is completely dominating the market.

That "content is king" comment was (probably) sarcastic.

SEO is a parasitic industry that rides on the coattails of the Google Search. It's not really something that Google even needs to take in account. Their goal is to sell ads to the search results, and in order to maintain that business model they need to have a service that produces relevant results for the end user. Wether or not that happens to work for SEO practitioners or their clients is fairly irrelevant.

Of course, all the talk around Google Search helps to keep it interesting and relevant.

In my opinion as long as Google keeps Pagerank in the core of the algorithm there's no huge sweeping changes, at least not from the point of view of an end user. The strong sites are going to stay strong. However, Google's search tech is in a constant flux as the article I linked shows.

SEO will never die because people will continue to use search engines, what will and has changed is the way in which websites are ranked.
