I'm debating between these two keyword tools. They both seem good but I can't decide. Anyone here use both of them? Can you share your opinion on which of the two you found more useful?

I'm also open to additional suggestions. Trying to find one keyword tool to buy so i can sharpen my seo marketing.

I use jaaxy from time to time, more so to get ideas about keywords. It's a really cool tool for coming up with keyword ideas (it's actually a bit overwhelming and distracting at times, it just spews out reasonably good keywords.) The problem with it is the SEO difficulty is not necessarily accurate. To get a more accurate picture of the real difficulty you need experience and tools like SEMrush/MOZ help out a lot. Those tools aren't necessarily completely accurate either though, so yeah, that's where experience comes in.

I've personally used LongTailPro for a short time as well.

As I'm sure you've already seen, it's useful for things like discovering long tail keywords, as well as other relevant info such as page links, etc.

However... good lord the cost. If you looked at the 'Basic' version, it leaves out the 'keyword competitiveness feature' (which is pretty damn important) forcing you to go to the other version, which you still pay the same $97 in addition to 27/mo. Or you can knock it out with a one time payment of $397.

I'm sorry, but for me that's a big fat no.

Why would I do that when I could get a similar result with Google Keyword Planner (Free, and generates lots of great long tails) then analyze competition with the free moz toolbar plugin?

For example, there may be a fight to claim some real estate for the popular 'This Old Man' song.

Naturally, I can't say don't buy the software, I'm sure it works quite fine. But it just feels like there's better means..especially when most of these types of software scrape from free resources, you know?

I guess the better question is how exactly will the tool you buy help you further?

I have used both tools. Long Tail Pro and Keyword Researcher do entirely different things.

    Long Tail Pro

Fetches keywords + volume data only from Google keyword Planner and then allows you to analyse the competition for each keyword using metrics like allintitle on google and competitor metrics for top 10 results on google.

It has a feature to calculate a single number competition score for each keyword to indicate the competiton level on google. But that requires the Platinum version or an additional recurring monthly cost.

The same kind of analysis can be done with a number of free browser plugins available for both Chrome and Firefox.

    Keyword Researcher

I would assume that you are talking about Keyword Researcher from CleverGizmos. This tool generates keywords from the "keyword suggestions" from google.com

What you could do with keyword researcher can also be partially done with a number of free online tools like

    1. Keyword suggestion tool — Google suggest scraper — Ãœbersuggest
    2. Soovle - Let the web help.
    3. Keyword Tool: FREE Alternative to Google Keyword Planner

Keyword Researcher gets you only the keywords and not any useful metrics like volume. So you have to feed those keywords into google keyword planner manually to get that data.

    Conclusion

The keywords generated are different. But most importantly the keywords generated are mutually exclusive. Its commonly seen that keyword suggestions contain a lot many more keywords that google keyword planner does not report. But keyword suggestions do not report volume data like keyword planner.

In a way you need features from both of the tools together for maximum power.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
