Sudden drop of 20% in my Google traffic

Hi guys,

I post this here since it's about Google traffic... But I'm not even sure this topic belongs here.

My site usually receives 5k traffic from Google every day, but since Saturday, I have seen a sudden drop of 20% approx of my Google traffic - compared to previous Saturday, previous Sunday, ....

I checked everything, and it's all good :
- no manual penalty on Google Webmaster
- i checked my two analytics system (Clicky and Google Analytics) and both show the same drop
- my site runs fine
- my SEO rankings haven't dropped for my most important important keywords. - they actually improved for some of them
- no alert on my Wordpress
- my niche is not seasonal... it's in the MMO niche.

I thought it could be an effect of Halloween + All Saints day, maybe people are busy doing something else - but this has never happened before on other bank holidays, and, today 2nd of November, I can see the same trend...

Any idea? Something I should look into?

Thanks in advance

Nicolas

Bank holidays are not Halloween... It really could just be the holiday. You need to wait till next week-end to be sure.

People do different things on different holidays... Some of them, for the people who visit your site, might be... no internet, too busy for internet...

Do you have actual stats from previous Halloween? That's the obvious point of comparison. It's also possible that people are not in the full "making money online mode" instantly after a holiday.

In my opinion you should see at least a couple of normal weekdays before reacting to this sort of thing.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

      Hi,

Well yes, I could check last Halloween. But I'll guess I'll just wait some few more weekdays, although I still see this trend so far!

      Thanks
      Nicolas.

It's important to compare apples with apples and not apples with oranges so to speak. One of the most overlooked aspect marketing in general for many businesses is how a day/month/year/holiday is compared to the previous day/month/holiday/year. You can only grow if you now the stats

Agreed, one weekend of data is nothing.

          Look at the BIG picture.

Its normal to bounce around in ranking...Give it a week or 2 before you get too concerned. Google might just be testing out some new site in the serp or making a few changes to the sever your on to experiment.
