Should I High Competition Consider Keywords for My Micro Niche Website?

Hey Everyone!

I have created a new micro-niche website but I am confused which keywords to choose. A lot of people say that if you have a new website then select low competition keywords which have high monthly searches and some people say if you have a micro niche website then choose longtail keywords which have high CPC. I found some longtail keywords but the problem is those keywords are high in competition. So, I want to know which strategy I follow?

Low competition + high monthly searches

OR

Longtail keywords with High CPC

I have a feeling you don't know how to research competition & you've bought into some bogus SEO competition software. Let me guess, it spits out a magic competition number based on keywords in the page titles.

You are right. I don't know how to research competition that's why I asked the question here.

Your question wasn't how to do competition research, you made an OP statement based on a false competition number that has nothing to do with SEO.

You will never find a low competition keyword with high traffic, in fact it's an oxymoron.

High CPC has nothing to do with SEO. Again I'm guessing you're either misunderstanding the Google Analytics CPC column which is for paid ads on Google SERPs not organic SERPs (SEO) or the same CPC data scraped by a 3rd party software.

I have a feeling you're monetizing with Adsense & misunderstanding the Adwords CPC column (or same data on 3rd party software), If that's the case, that CPC has nothing to do with Adsense. That's a common misunderstanding for IMers.

In the end you need to focus on sizing up competition but that's only going to happen when you manually dig in & learn why a page is currently ranked on Google SERPs. No software will do all the work for you.
