Webmaster Geotargeting TLDs
- SEO |
I've searched the forums for the past hour and can't seem to find my exact question out there - some similar which have been useful but nothing definitive. my question is:-
We have several international websites, with the majority of them targeted within google webmasters to match their different languages an matching their ccTLD's which are fine,
The conundrum I am having is that we have a US site and a UK site both with generic TLD's - the UK site is our primary global site and has the .com domain, while the US is relatively new with a .org domain. The .org is targeted at the US within google webmasters and the .com is currently un-targeted.
If I target the .com at the UK in google webmasters - how will this effect rankings in other countries for example the middle-east or Asia?
I've experimented with this previously and it puts us above our main competitors in the UK search, but I am concerned it may be having a negative impact else-where.
Any thoughts?
thank you!
