Exact match domains and 301 Redirect

I have an exact match domain for the keywords I wish to rank. If I type the domain name in google, I find it, and when I click the link, it redirects to the page I have it pointed to.

BUT, when I search on those exact keywords, I am not found in the top 300 listings.

Now, if I search the keywords to the page that the 301 is being directed to, the page shows up in search.

The exact match domain isn't coming up in search results but the page it's being pointed to is showing up in Google search.

Basically, having an exact match domain with a 301 redirect hasn't been any benefit at all. I understand that it may not be the end all of yesterday, but I would think it would be more useful than nothing at all.

Any ideas?

If you think 301 domain to post will make magic ranking for this post, no.. i don't think.
unless the domain was already ranked...

    You thought wrong.

You're not ranking any page just because of an EMD.

The domain is not being shown at all in search. The page is there, but the domain is MIA.

Of course it is not being shown in search. It is redirected, telling Google it does not exist. They are not going to show a page that does not exist in their search results.

Ok, You would know better than I would. The page it's pointed to does show in google under the keyword search.

I have a page optimized for my city name photographers. the pages sits at http://mymaindomain/mycitynamephotographers

That page IS found when I search on my city name photographers

But, when I search for my city name photographers it does not show under mycitynamephotographers.com. The .com site is no where to be found.

I have my http://mycitynamephotographers.com pointed to http://mymaindomain/mycitynamephotographers. That page is optimzed for these keywords.

Are you saying, that google won't index a page where a domain has been redirected?
