Is there a limit to the power of 301 redirecting expired domains?

Recently I picked up 3 chamber of commerce links by finding broken links on their sites, and wildcard 301 redirecting those domains to my sites. As the money site is also a local site, these links are super powerful.
My question is, how much of this can I get away with safely?
I'm thinking of finding a bunch of other sites in this area and buying/301'ing them as well. I don't really know if this is dangerous or not, to 301 redirect so much.
