Simple, do you use a site-map plugin?

If so, you can select it to not show tag pages in there.

Secondly, how long is the tag name? The idea of a tag is to connect many pages over time that cover similar topics. In other words, you want to keep your tags short and broad. No point in using tags you will only ever use on one post.

So stop using tags, it's duplicate content & you're obviously not using canonical tags in the HTML <head>.

  • You can actually disable google from indexing your TAGS through wordpress...

Why on earth would you do that? Duplicate content is the only thing you'd get.

I wouldn't even use tags on WordPress because categories are much better, but they're supposed to tie related articles together.

        That is the idea.

As I said before (and someone else confirmed), tags are there to connect similar pages. That's it. If you try stuffing keywords in there, you're better off NOT using them. Period!

Yes, as @konradbraun said tags are used for grouping similar or related topics. Keep the length to 1 or 2 words. Also if you worry about, stop using them or exclude them from indexing in your sitemap.

    thanks guy for helping me.

one last question: what about categories and archive? is it better to make those pages noindex?

Yes, better off that way. They will still get crawled by the search engines, but won't show up in search results on Google - which is a good thing. It helps give your search engine traffic a better user experience... and in this day and age, that is what it's all about.

Depends on the situation. I've built sites that treat category pages like any other content and rely on them to be indexed. If it's an average blog style site it's probably ok to leave them as noindex.

In my opinion date and author archives are not useful by default.
