Hi,

I have started a site for wallpaper, quotes and status (Wallpaper Quotes and Status - All under one roof), and have only submitted to google.com few days back, since last few days I can see on couple of my post I am getting daily 5-10 comments which are totally irrelevant to my post contents, though i check all comments and mark them spam or thrash, but still I just wanted to know will this spam comments negatively affect my site ranking and indexing ? or will it help my blog to get popular ?

Kindly guide pls..

Just remove spam comments. If site is running on wordpress, install anti spam plugins like Akismet

Askimet is the plugin which filters out most of the spammy comment. If you are using WordPress you should try it.

Why in the world would an image wallpaper site even consider allowing comments? Doesn't even make sense. Nobody cares about comments on a site like that, all they (legit traffic) want is the image.

You'll turn off the comments when you get tired of deleting spam.

      This.

Allowing comments on that type of site is a total waste.

Hi yukon, thanks for reply, well its not only wallpaper related site, it has quotes, tech articles and whatsapp status too, so sometime people do make a comment on that particular post..

If you really want comments use the Facebook iframe comment code that way spammers won't be blasting your money pages with fake comments trying to get a backlink.

You could also use the social sharing code snippets Likes, Tweets, etc... to help promote the download content outside of the site instead of on-page comments. Maybe even a social content locker on each download.

They will read them, doesn't help much.

On a side note, the only links your site has are from this forum and those links are nofollow, they do nothing.

Really funny thing is, you're somehow ranked in the 40s on some keywords... Here come the nofollow link and duplicate content conspiracy theorists.

Instead of posting here, I highly suggest that you get sites you are spamming in your sig to uhm, I don't know, maybe load?

And seriously? Panda is going to annihilate those, why are you even spamming that?

You need to have a proper care with these comments. At the end it will automatically hurt the reputation of your website among main search engines.

Set the site for comment moderation so that you could approve them before they post. Also, look into plugins made to filter spammy comments.

Spammy comments are no good to your website at all. Use Akismet and remove all spammy comments. The only type of comments that will be useful are relevant comments.
