Those activities are not effective for anything that has competition.

Look into broken links (Google Broken Link Bible, for instance).

Look into PBN's (private networks... create your own).

Look into creating one amazing piece of content... Amazing from the point of view of people who visit the websites in related niches. Then, contact website owners in related niches and tell them about how your amazing piece of content will make them look good in the eyes of their visitors and ask them to link to it.

Look into Silo SEO structures... Yukon, on this very forum, has done a great job of showing how they work... Find those posts.

There are many ways to improve your sites ranking do some of the quality submissions, use metadata, publish relevant content, update your content regularly, and use alt tags. Also build backlinks from quality sites.

Well, the simplest way to increase keywords ranking is, by writing in-depth content by targeting main keywords and long tail keywords and then building quality links by guest posting and blog commenting. You can also use PBN if you have money to invest.

I have no idea, whatever you have done to get ranking on SERP. But I would like to suggest you some few tips :-

Hi campbelljof,

If you have done so many things to your website then you need to focus on the On-Page optimization of your website. Pay more attention to the title and Meta tags of your website. You should also work on breadcrumb schema of your website.

As you said you have done so many guest posting, I think you need to create quality back-links. First do on-page optimization and then focus on quality links from high authority websites.

As other member here stated that forum posting will help you in keyword ranking. It is not true because Google consider the website's page information for the users intent and not for keywords only.

It appears to me that the competition may be too strong. Next step I'd take is to bank on long tail keywords, which may seem obvious, but if you'd also look at the semantics and synonyms of the term you'll have a lot more room to play.

For eg, if your keyword is "hotel", five stars, 4 stars, etc, come into play for long-tail keywords but you should also use terms like accommodation, stay, suites, etc.

In general, a piece of content should be tight-knitted with latent semantic indexing (LSI) by using correlating words; coherence is key to LSI and LSI is vital in good ranking. For eg, if the content is about iphones, then words like Apple, Steve Jobs, ios, 6s plus, apps store, itunes, etc, will come in necessary.

There are almost more than 200 factors on which Google determines the ranking for end user queries. The keyword which you have selected are already 2 words which keyword and I think all the keywords are highly competitive. Your website is also new. So it will take time to get ranked for short term keywords.
