      No follow links can be relevant to your post's context and can come from the sources which have a potential to generate high referral traffic.

    There are 2 main benefits of nofollow links:

    1. If you place link of high authority website like wikipedia and links will be nofollow but they will generate you high quality traffic.
    2. If you are doing SEO link buiding for your website then if you will do thousands of dofollw links only then google will consider it as a link spamming but if you will generate nofollow links from high authorith websites like edu and gov platform with nofollow then it will help you to avoid link spamming.

      Though it's true that it's possible to get traffic from sites that give nofollow links, it's not the creating of a nofollow link that's key to that... You keep talking about these links in the context of SEO, using SEO verbiage. That indicates you don't know either SEO or how to generate traffic through other online marketing means.

      As regards, high quality nofollow link being better than low quality SEO link... That's kind of like saying: Building your house on a lot that gets flooded once every 10 years is better than building your house on a lot that gets flooded every 2 years.

      Spam from .edu is spam. .edu has no advantage over .com. So, stop looking for .edu saying it's okay it's nofollow and start looking for links that are followed, from any site, no matter what comes after the dot, keeping in mind that pages (not sites) with more incoming links are better than pages with fewer incoming links (with some exceptions).

    Well I have seen no follow backlinks affecting the ranking in a positive way. DA and PA definitely improve.

    NoFollow and DoFollow tags used a Search Engine to distinguish each link. NoFollow links that will not be followed by the Search Engines. While Link is Dofollow is the opposite, ie would further explore by Search Engines.
