It may be hit by Google updation. If it is so then you need to work a lot but still there is no gaurantee that it will come back or not.

Hey Tech check-out the traffic of that keyword through your analytics & webmaster tool.

And the reason of dropping your keyword ranking could be google penalty by google search algorithm update. So now you need to do some hard work to get back your keyword.

    All the best.!

In short Go through your google analytic report you can find solutions by analyze. Do A/B testing. More over it would take lots of hard work and time to rank back again.

A/B testing is about to check the user experience on a particular page. You can judge the user behavior on different versions of your landing page and on the basis of conversions or bounce rate automatically by analytic you can get the winner page. Basically we do A/B testing to improve our user experience, goals/conversions and reduce our bounce rate. But it doesn't increase your keyword ranking.

Its either the update or the website's performance in the web.

Google is always up to updating its algorithm. You cannot ever know which factor of SEO caused your keyword drop. I suggest you should not worry and keep reading the updates about Google and do necessary changes in your SEO activities.

Maybe you should keep up with websites that report on Algorithm updates.

It's very normal for your keyword(s) to drop if you are actively link building. I have had sites completely vanish (and I mean vanish) from the SERPS for days when I am building links and then they suddenly reappear. It's easy to panic when this happens but keep your cool and just keep doing what you are doing.

A good way to check that nothing amiss is happening is to copy a paragraph of text from your page and search for it in Google. If your site is not ranking for your own content then that's time to start to worry.

People are always going to babble about algorithm updates. This time there might've actually been one, but it's pretty futile to concentrate on that. If you've received penalties those should be in the Webmaster Tools, so that's something you should know already. While A/B testing is generally a good idea it doesn't have anything to do with this situation.

Sometimes rankings do fluctuate, so I'd wait a couple of days before doing anything too drastic. However, I'd still investigate a bit.

How do you track your SERP positions? Has there been any changes to this setup? How far did your page drop?

What sort of niche is this, generally speaking?
